Broome and Ditchingham Preschool uses The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework which sets the standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.

The EYFS curriculum guides our educational programme and what learning we promote to ensure children's 'school readiness' and gives children the broad range of knowledge, skills and attitudes that provide a strong foundation for learning.

Our Outdoor Learning Space

We provide a well planned and resourced outdoor learning space that the children can access freely throughout each preschool session. We believe that all children should have the opportunity to experience and enjoy the special nature of being outdoors. Our provision provides an inclusive complementary environment that enhances and extends our indoor learning space and utilises what is different and unique about the outdoors.

We provide the children with daily access to be outdoors in all weathers so they can be naturally exuberant and engage in physical play that contributes to their physical, emotional, mental and social health. Our outdoor space allows children the freedom and time to manage their own learning and develop skills through play and discovery.

Our Indoor Learning Space

Our well resourced indoor environment is planned and designed to promote all areas of learning and engage children in purposeful play. We provide a range of play opportunities using open ended resources that inspire curiosity and based on the children’s interests and developmental needs. Our indoor learning space aims to present resources and activities in an attractive and interesting way in designated learning bays with additional resources for children to make their own choices about their play. It provides a familiar and orderly layout that offers emotional security and reassurance to our children while providing interest, challenge and inspires a motivation to learn. 

Our session routines and transitions provide further familiarity with opportunities to develop independence and self care skills as well as an lots of language, conversation, songs and rhymes. Within our indoor session routine we have daily adult led group time. As children grow older, and as their development allows, we expect that the balance will gradually shift towards more activities led by adults, to help children prepare for a transition to school.
